Synopsis

"The Lost Wave: An African Surf Story" chronicles the surf expedition of noted surf historian, explorer and filmmaker Sam George, joined by pro surfers Holly Beck and Joe Curren, as they travel to country of Sao Tome which George visited six years earlier to unravel the mystery of the villagers who ride the waves  on a tiny islet off the coast of this remote island West African nation.

Narrated by Sal Masakela, X Games anchor, E! reporter and lifelong surfer,  "The Lost Wave" takes viewers on a high definition journey to the lush island nation with a tortured past of slavery and Colonial abandonment, and where the sport of surfing flourishes entirely on its own, with villagers riding the waves on finless wooden boards.  It also the story of George to re-stoke his own surfing passion, while reveaing the dramatic impact his short visit from years' earlier had on the villagers, melding the existing West African wave riding paradigm with a contemporary one.

"The Lost Wave" was shot entirely in high definition and was produced by Paul Taublieb and Media X International, Inc. (MXi).  Featuring select indigenous Sao Tome music, complimented by a lush, all-original score, "The Lost Wave" was directed and written by Taublieb, Sam George and Sam Boyer, with Executive Producers Mark DeAngelis and Rob Faris of RushHD, and Consulting Producer Michael Lythcott of VAS Entertainment.
